SIM and ILO - more diagnostics and alarms?

Hi -

I have read the ILO (on motherboard of Proliant DL380 G3) besides doing remote access also does monitoring and error alerting - does
SIM need to have ILO lan connections to fully function? I have a bad memory stick, it seems that with ILO lan plugged in I get a nicer gui error page to look at, and without the ILO lan connection I see the same error condition in the error log of SIM for that server. Just wondering whether I should insist on having ILO plugged in ... what does it buy me??
