SIM application supported on VMWare server

Is installing the SIM application on a VMware server supported? The Database will live on a seperate SQL server

Re: SIM application supported on VMWare server

Hosting hpSIM on a VMware ESX virtual machine was not part of the test matrix in QA so it is not officially supported. However, since hpSIM has no particular tie to hardware and can be run on just about anything including a notebook -- as long as it meets the recommended minimum configuration -- you may reasonably expect that the configuration should work. I have personal experience running it on a W2K and a WS03 guest OS without problems. There have been some unconfirmed accounts of customers experiencing problems.

I know you say that SQL will be hosted elsewhere, but in my experience, the I/O load hpSIM puts on the database can use up a lot of the box's juice, so be careful to pair it with applications that aren't too demanding.

I have no experience with guests with VMware GSX.

One thing that is definitely not supported: running the Linux version of hpSIM in the service console of VMware ESX.
