SIM Database Access

I just installed SIM 4.0, and can't locate a way to change the account which is used to access the SQL database located on another server. Back in IM7.0 there was a way to change the service account.

HPSIM uses only Windows authentication with SQL server and msde. The account credentials for the SQL server could only be specified during the initial install.

Re: SIM Database Access

Well I need to change those database credentials. How can I do that?

Re: SIM Database Access

Create the domain account on the remote database. Uninstall SIM then re-install it with the correct credentials and remote database server.

Re: SIM Database Access

Uninstalling and re-installing a product just to change a service accounts seems extremely drastic and a very bad design.

How can HP think that this is acceptable?

I agree with you on that. Funny enough, when used with msde, SIM actually changed the sa password to a random password but does not actually use it.

I'm pretty sure HP will have a good explanation for this.
