SIM - Edit Asset tag field
Sim 7.10 => System Info => Asset Control Information => Asset Tag:
previously blank. We are now beginning to use Asset Tags. How is this field edited to reflect the assigned Asset Tag Number? I am unable to find any directions for doing this edit.
Thanks
Ron

Re: SIM - Edit Asset tag field
You don't it's picked up from the Server.
You need to go into the RBSU, for Servers that support it and enter the details into this.
Alas, this needs to be accessed via a reboot.
This feature doesn't seem to be available for older Servers but is possible for all G2's and above.

Re: SIM - Edit Asset tag field
To all greetings. The older Proliant Servers also allow the asset tag information to be entered IF you have installed the Compaq System Partition or F10. Within the F10 configuration (located where it listes all of the hardware, pci slots, controllers, etc.) you can enter the Asset Tag information. IM will then pick this information up during the next discovery process. We have been using this on our older Compaq's for sometime now. THere will ALWAYS be the issue IF the server is System ERased that this will be lost and it is always prone to the dreaded two finger typist or mistyped input. But it does work.
Thanks
Dan

Re: SIM - Edit Asset tag field
Daniel,
The F10 approach works on our DL360 G1's but on our older Proliant 1600's and 6500's the Tag still isn't picked up by the Agent. You can enter it and it's there when you go back, it's just not picked up in the System Info. from the Agent.
Which Server types have you had success with?
