SIM wont discover Enclosures

Hi there,

When SIM does its auto discovery (and also when i manually search for the IP's of the ILO in the enclosure), it wont find the c-class enclosures.  It finds all the other servers on the network fine though.

Im testing this product, so im a bit new in the area.  But was wondering if there are some additional configurations options i need to check....ive searched but cant find any.

I have made sure xml is enabled on the enclosures and all the credentials for the search are correct

hi,

what HP SIM Version do you use?
Do you have installed HP SIM on Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2?

If so, check if local Windows Firewall is blocking anything (C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\Firewall)

Is the Pegasus WMI Mapper installed correctly?

HP SIM Communicates with the enclosure with WBEM (Port 5989).

Hi,

To discover the enclosures run a discovery task towards the OA.

Be sure to provide the OA credentials (and optionally the iLO credentials) in the discovery task.

The log extract you give says "Critical: The managed system is not reachable."

HP SIM must have access to the LAN used for OA and iLOs. Make sure you can ping the OA from the CMS.

You have to set the OA with the snmp string for hpsim. Additionally check this link

Do the following:

1. Set a SNMP read community string on all onboard administrators and virtual connect Ethernet modules in the enclosures
2. Run a discovery against the IP addresses of all those modules
3. Ensure iLO data return level is set to high
4. Re-run discovery

The entire enclosure should be discovered.
