I have a copy of HP Openview 7.21 (for windows), a copy of HP Insight Manager installed on the same server, and the OVOW - HP SIM Integration templates rolled out to that Server.
Question: How would I simulate the errors on the servers managed by Insight Manager, to ensure the passthru to OVOW works?
Question: Do I need NNM licensed and working on OVOW to accept the Network traps that SIM seems to send through?
Share and Enjoy! Ian
PS. My network knowledge is limited, please use small words.

Re: Simulate failures to test integration
The most common way is to yank a device that is redundant in some way, such as a disk in a drive array. There also is a send test trap capability in the Insight agent web interface or in the control panel applet.

Re: Simulate failures to test integration
I have searched through the Online HTML documentation and the menus on SIM and cannot find any reference to "test trap" or "agent tool".
Do you have a more detailed path to this functionality? I have attached a screenshot of the product to ensure we are talking about the same thing.

Solution
On server that you want to simulate the trap from, open Control Panel and then HP Management Agents. Choose the SNMP Settings tab and use the [Send Test Trap] button.
Also, from the screen shot you sent, choose the Links tab and then Insight Management Agent. When you are at the agent detail choose the Settings tab and then SNMP Settings. A [Send Test Trap] button will be there.
