SNMP Management Protocol missing

When I look at the Management Protocols on some on my servers it will list the fillowing protocols. HTTP:1.0, WBEM:2.6, SMH:2.0, SNMP:1.0. When a server has these protocols the Hardware Status has a link in it " from HP Foundation Agent". Alot of my server are missing the SNMP:1.0 and therefore do not have the link unser Hardware status. The servers all have SNMP install and configured correctly. From the Server I can do the trap test and it is received on the SIM server. How do I get SNMP:1.0 to show on the other servers? I have reinstalled the management agent and deleted and rediscovered the server and nothing seems to work.

Thanks!

Re: SNMP Management Protocol missing

For whatever reason, HP SIM is not getting a response from those remote systems when it makes an SNMP inquiry. You can test that out by using SNMPWALK or another utility on the HP SIM server to see if you can talk to the remote server via SNMP.

By any chance are the servers in question running Windows Server 2003? By default, WS03 installs SNMP to only respond to the localhost. That would explain why you can send a test trap.

If you are using HP SIM 4.2 or later, 'Configure or Repair Agents' will go out and fix automatically any configuration problems that prevent HP SIM from talking to the remote device.

Re: SNMP Management Protocol missing

Yeah, they are all Windows 2003. And I did change all the SNMP settings. I know the server talked back to the SIM server cause it receives the Trap tests I send to the server. I have change the trap destinations to point to the correct server so I know thats not and issue. I am running SIM 4.2.
I can't seen and issues on the server SNMP service.

Re: SNMP Management Protocol missing

Sending a trap originating from the target to HP SIM as the destination can work fine even if the communication the other way is broken. Try 'Configure or Repair Agents' as I suggested. Otherwise you may need to have a conversation with your networking group if you fail at the SNMPWALK task.
