SNMP Monitoring trouble
Ok have been trying to figure out how to monitor my Proliant G2 via SNMP. I need to monitor internal system temps, fan status, power supply status, drive status, and drive temp all via SNMP poll from a central SNMP polling server. Problem is I cant use the insight manager software as that requires a user to log into it and read the stats from there. What I am needing to do is use the OIDs that come with it (1.3.6.1.4.1.232.#.#.#) that already pull this data. Problem is that I cant seem to get it to work. The server that is polling this box is not getting a response to any OID starting with 1.3.6.1.4.1.232. My research tells me I need to identify the agent DLLs that support these MIB files and add them, problem is I have no idea which ones they are nor how to identify them.
I tried calling the HP support center, but the person working with me was not very helpful, as he only wanted to setup the insight manager.
If anyone can help out, it would be greatly appreciated, I am at my whit’s end.
Thanks
Carl

Re: SNMP Monitoring trouble
SNMP polling ?
its more like receiving TRAPS from the monitored Station on Events.
Have you ever thought about Monitoring with WMI ??
SNMP is Simple Network Management Protokoll and its even fire and forget (not secure and no handshake).
Please check out WMI or WBEM Management.
