Systems insight Manager & Cisco
I am trying to get the systems insight manager to pick up our cisco 3500 switches, but having real problems.
It can see them when i manually add them, but htey come back as unmnaged and the systems doesnt know what they are.
I have spent hours trying to register mib files, but when you select retrieve from MIB the new mibs appear empty.
Has anyone done this before and can show me the way?
Cheers

Re: Systems insight Manager & Cisco
Don't worry about the MIB at this stage; they are only for translating traps. If HP SIM is seeing it as unmanaged, it isn't getting any response back from SNMP get requests. Figure out why first and then worry about the MIB.

Re: Systems insight Manager & Cisco
I have it working to a degree.
I have done a manged fine selected the ip address and created a new description.
HP SIM is viewing it and polling it now, but i want it to pick up more info.

Re: Systems insight Manager & Cisco
HP SIM does not "walk the MIB" to gather additional information beyond what you're seeing via SNMP. HP SIM expects to gather info on non-HP gear through WBEM/WMI, but even so, SIM's database is oriented to platforms, not network equipment, so the information that you could possibly gather would probably not map into appropriate fields.
