Trouble getting HP SIM to recognize W2k3 x64 correctly.
Q1: When I click on the HS it opens up the SMH correctly but there are several failed components like unplugged NIC's and such. Why won't those show up on HP SIM correctly?
Q2: When I click on the blue question mark it opens up the VCA on the remote system correctly and all components are in the green. The VCA settings are correct because it shows the versions from my VCRM for comparison. Why won’t this show up on HP SIM as all green?
I’ve tried several things, I’ve re-pushed the PSP, I’ve tried the Configure or Repair Agents, I’ve done multiple HW and SW Status Polls, I’ve tried Identify System, I’ve tried resetting the System Protocol Settings with the System Identification scan checked. I’m not sure what to try next. All my other Windows 2k3 non x64 systems are running fine. This is the first x64 system I’ve tried to monitor.
Any ideas???
Thx,
Ken

Re: Trouble getting HP SIM to recognize W2k3 x64 correctly.
When you select the HS link, do you go directly to the SMH or do you get a login prompt? If you use Trust by certificate, maybe try removing and reloading the certificate.
What about the SNMP settings? ccommunity names and the HPSIM server in the allowed hosts?
The SW Status Poll should change the SW icon flag, again, when you click on the blue SW icon do you get the login prompt or do you go directly to the VAC page?
I've not played with any 64bit OSes, so I can't add any info from that side.

Re: Trouble getting HP SIM to recognize W2k3 x64 correctly.
So, my follow on question is why would it not sync up after doing all of what I listed, is there another job that would have run that would cause them to sync up? Both the HW and SW are showing up correctly now. I see based on the scheduled tasks that there are 2 jobs that could attribute to the correct states being shownâ ¦ 1) Bi Weekly Data Collection, 2) Software Version Status Polling. Iâ m not sure though, because I ran the Software Status Polling job manually several times by going to Options | Status Polling | Software Status Polling. Are there differences in the manual job vs the scheduled job?
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas why they all of the sudden are working now, I would appreciate any clarification.
Thx,
Ken
