Trying to add Procurve switches, and DL100 G2 staorage servers
Uing SIM 5.1
I can add the Procurve switches manually, but they appear as unknown devices. The switches are two 2628s an 2628-PWR and two 4200 series.
I've checked that SNMP is enabled on them.
The same happens with the DL100 G2 storage servers, they only appear as "Unknown".
I'd appreciate any constructive suggestions.
Cheers

Re: Trying to add Procurve switches, and DL100 G2 staorage servers
Click on the server name and expand the Products section and see what protocols are listed.
Try running an Identification task on the server, the log will show the result of the different tests.
SNMP is usually enough to identify an HP Proliant server, I'd recheck community names and allowed hosts.
Not too sure about the Procurve switches, possibly similar in that you'll need to allow the HPSIM Server host in the snmp config.
As a last resort you can add new devices to HPSIM.

Re: Trying to add Procurve switches, and DL100 G2 staorage servers
SIM displays the std Windows SNMP parts for hardware description of the DL100G2 Storage Servers
"Hardware: x86 Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 5 AT/AT COMPATIBLE - Software: Windows Version 5.2 (Build 3790 Multiprocessor Free)"
The switches even have Procurve in the hardware description "ProCurve J4900B Switch 2626, revision H.10.38, ROM H.08.02 (/sw/code/build/fish(mf_v10_fishp))"
Just to add injsult to Injury, SIM correctly recognises a Dell Windows 200 NAS server, and two Cisco switches...
