Unable to register VM HOST, comes back as Hypervisor

Attempting to register VM host, Tool launch OK comes back with "Operating System Name must equal : WINNT, or LINUX. The properties that HOSTNAME has for the failing conditions : Operating System Name: Hypervisor. We are running ESX version 3.0.2. SIM 5.2 SP2
