unable to set automatic event handling

hello!

i have a URGENT problem with automatic event handling. today i figured out that our hp sim 4.2 server is not sending any e-mail notifications since about 3 weeks!!!

i get the following error in internet explorer when i try to change or create a new automatic event handler job:

Char: 17
Error: Object doesn´t support this property or method
Code: 0
URL: https://servername.fqdn:50000/mxportal/search/AdvancedEventsSearch.jsp?inframe=alerts

nothing more happens.

any tip´s how to solve this quickly are welcome!

if only a new installation would solve this problem, how can i save my current configuration including all gui settings, users, snmp, discovery settings, etc.

ok - a few reboots later: now i have exactly this problem: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=765717

it does not matter what user i log on or which target system or task i select.

what is going on there?!?

We are receiving the exact same error when trying to create Automatic Event Handling tasks. It worked until we upgraded from HP SIM 4.1 to 4.2. I have tried upgrading java to 4.1.2 with no luck.
What version of Java are you running?

This is not a Java error, it is a JavaScript error, and it does not have anything to do with the Java runtime.

The most common causes of this are not having your system set to US English and security settings. Add your HP SIM server to your trusted sites and make sure you have low security.

hi!

my solution: uninstall hp sim and make a clean install. the java version has nothing to do with it - i didn´t changed anything on my java setup. i think there is a bug in the code - but without any help of the develpers it´s just a guess...

but i can proof that a clean install runs much better than an upgrade.

hello!

how can it be a security or us english locals problem?!? our server was running version 4.1 without any problem for about 1/2 year before i upgraded it to 4.2 in december. and a few weeks later that?

the event handling stopped working during our "frozen time" (15.12.04 - 9.1.05) no system changes are allowed at this time - and i can proof you that nobody changed anything on that server.

I made sure that the server is using US English. Also I set the security level to low and added the trusted site.
The problem still exists, however I am hesitant to start with a clean install because I don't want to lose my custom settings.
Any other suggestions?

Same Problem came up today for me. Noticed when I was at step 3 in the automatic events screen I was not seeing all the options for select systems. I logged out then logged in with another domain account and was able to create the events saw all the options.

I created the original event with my account and it was working. Not sure what happened
