Unmanaged & Unknown Servers (ver 4.1)
I have a bunch of Unmanaged and unknown servers in my Systems list. When I set up a test server with ver 4.0, 90% of these servers showed correct server type and product name (i.e. PROLIENT DL380 or Virtual Server or Workstation) However, after installing ver 4.1 none of the virtual Servers or Workstations (running W2K Server with workstation agent) show up correctly.
I've checked agent version, DNS, and SNMP settings. I've let it "bake" over night to see if they get picked up in daily scan.
Any help???

Re: Unmanaged & Unknown Servers (ver 4.1)
I can tell you that unknown is because your system BIOS is out of date. The new version does work well with older BIOS. I haven't figured out the unmanaged part yet.

Re: Unmanaged & Unknown Servers (ver 4.1)
The problem I had was that I removed the public SNMP string from all of my servers and added a private one with Read/Write access. I had to add this private SNMP string under Global Protocol Settings in both the Default Write Community String as well as on of the Read community strings. I then went under Logs > View All Scheduled Tasks and reran the Daily Device Identication, Hardware Status Polling for Servers and the Initial Data Collection. All of my servers show up now.
I suspect most users keep the public SNMP string or added the private one to both write and read without realizing it.
