Unnecessary software listed in VCA
I have updated a server to the latest support versions of all necessary drivers. But I have an old version of a particular piece of software installed (e.g. HP StorageWorks Fibre Channel Array Notification Driver for Windows 2000/Server 2003) for which there is a newer version available in my repository.
So in the VCA, I see a listing for the version currently installed (5.14.2.0) and listings for the newer version (5.20.0.32) in the Support Pack version and Latest Version columns. This entry means that cumulative status for my VCA is "Minor" rather than "Normal".
When I try to update that software, the install begins and then completes with a status of 3: "The software is currently installed, but does not need to be installed on this system. Installation will not continue." Running the install with the option to force installation doesn't change the result. And I can't find a way to uninstall the unnecessary item.
The FCA notification driver is just a single example, I've come across other cases of the same problem with other pieces of software. Any ideas for removing the old, installing the new, or just clearing that item from the VCA list?

Re: Unnecessary software listed in VCA
I've seen this behaviour in Systems that have had hardware changes.
The problem is that the VCA detects the presence of the Driver even though it is no longer used. The Install does a bit more and determines that it is not required.
The problem is that there's no way I know of to remove the Driver. The Windows device management is all about managing a driver based on a device, but when that device is no longer there you've got no way of removing it unless you're happy to manually delete or rename the Driver files.

Re: Unnecessary software listed in VCA
I had the same problem. Correction - still having the same problem. For most of them can't get it to go away. Read this article for some clues.

Re: Unnecessary software listed in VCA
I too have this problem, since upgrading from PSP 7.00 to 7.10.
Can CP004187.exe v5.24.0.32 be forced to run / Upgrade, even though I don't require this driver.
Thanks
