Upgrade to SIM 5.2 with update 1

Upgrade to SIM 5.2 with update 1

Currently running HP SIM 4.2SP2 on a W2K3 R2 server with SP1 and MS SQL 2005. Server has 4G RAM and Dual Intel 2.8GHz processors. Want to In Place upgrade to the latest version which appears to be 5.2 with Update 1. Can I do such an upgrade or would it be advisable to upgrage to an intermediate version first (such as version 5.0 with SP5 or 5.1 with SP1 which I have previously downloaded in 2006 and 2007 but never got round to installing).

I have tried to download 5.2 with Update 1 but after having filled in the required form and selected Next to download, it just says 'We are unable to process your order' with no reason given which is not useful at all.

Any advice would be useful.

Go to www.hp.com/go/hpsim and have a look in the Information Library. There are quite a few upgrade documents.
In short you will need to upgrade in steps, going from 4.2 directly to 5.2 is not possible.

Not sure why the download didn't work. I pulled it down quite some time ago.

Thanks for that info, I'll have a look later today. Found out the download didn't work because the Company Name field wouldn't accept our company name as there were too many characters! Shortened it and consequently didn't get the error message and it downloaded OK.

hi Lenny,

The latest aviable is 5.2 Update 1, and update over 5.2.

Its advisable to upgrade to 5.2 and then 5.2 Update 1. The web page must be timing out. Did you try downloading again?

If you plan to install from the Insight Control Management 2.30 DVD, you'll need to upgrade your operating system to SP2.

Thanks for all assistance. Yesterday I updated straight to SIM 5.1SP1 and everything went absolutely fine. Will continue with this version for a couple of months before upgrading to 5.2. Will install W2K3 R2 SP2 first also.
