Upgrading Hard Drive Firmware

Since upgrading to PSP 7.80A, servers upon reboot are requesting firmware updates for the hard drives. I know this involves some downtime: booting to SmartStart, having the new firmware on floppy to install, etc.
In some cases, we have multiple drives in a server, each drive needing a different firmware update because it is a different model. My question is, when we do this procedure, will it update the correct model with the necessary update? We also have storage MSA 30 storage on some of the servers. Will the same procedure work for those drives as well? Thanks!

Re: Upgrading Hard Drive Firmware

You can run the SmartStart CD either at boot up or within Windows. I've seen it upgrade the hard drive firmware from the CD. There is no need for a floppy.

Re: Upgrading Hard Drive Firmware

You can download the iso for latest firmware CD (7.90)
After booting this it also allows an opton to add additional firmware from other sources I think.
But you shouldn't need that, this should cover all you require.
I've not tried using it with Windows up though!

I'm not familiar with MSA30's but some notes for the 7.90 release state that support for the MSA60 & 70 has been added, so looks as though it should.

Re: Upgrading Hard Drive Firmware

Interesting. I have never seen it either with Windows up! I think I will download the latest and give it a try. My only concern was the drives picking up the incorrect firmware and trashing the server.
I need to do this on about 69 servers.
