Can anyone help me with this?
I have a CMS up and running, and now I would like to use it to monitor our servers at different remote locations.
How do I set this up? Which ports needs to be opened in the different Firewalls? How should the ports be mapped? And so on..
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks.
Martin

Re: Using SIM to monitor servers at remote locations
This should give you a fair idea on SIM security/Ports Management.

Re: Using SIM to monitor servers at remote locations
Thanks for the input.
I have already looked at this. I still don't know if I understand it. I have opened some ports, but I'm not quite there yet.
If anybody has ever done this, and they could give me a "step-by-step" walktrough, I'd be most gratefull.
Thanks.

Re: Using SIM to monitor servers at remote locations
I have now opened all the ports, both in to the CMS, and in to the server to be managed. Still doesn't work.
I get SNMP traps to the SIM, because the server appeared under "All Systems" in SIM. It also received a trap saying the Tape Drive needs cleaning! :o)
But it's unreachable.
I have attached a simple picture showing how my servers are connected.
It seems like nothing can get through to the server to be managed.
Here's a "overview" of the "connections":
HP SIM server --> Firewall #1 --> Transparent router --> WAN --> Transparent router (at the remote location) --> Firewall #2 --> Server to be managed.
I hope this helps to clarify my situation, and that someone can help me?
Thanks a million.
