VCA Push from SIM

I'm trying to push out the vca to some servers where it is missing for some reason and I receive the following error:
"EXCEPTION CLASS: com.hp.mx.exceptions.MxFailedAuthenticationException
EXCEPTION: Authentication failed."

Im trying to use the initial support pack install feature. Any idea what authenticaion is failing?

Thanks
Bob

Re: VCA Push from SIM

This indicates that OpenSSH as installed on the hpSIM central management server (CMS) does not have a key that matches what hpSIM is using. Go through the "Windows 2003 workaround" in the hpSIM README.TXT (even if you aren't using WS03)

Re: VCA Push from SIM

Thanks. 2 questions:

Where do I find the hpSIM readme.txt file and is it possible to remove OpenSSH?

Thanks again

Re: VCA Push from SIM

I found where to remove it from but will this cause any other problems?

Re: VCA Push from SIM

When you execute the download file T2415BA... the first thing after choosing the [Setup] button you get is a DOS menu and the first item is to read the README. Alternatively you can open up the .exe archive with WinZip and extract it directly that way.

OpenSSH is used by hpSIM to execute programs at the command line on the CMS (like the Initial PSP Install you were trying to do). Removing OpenSSH will disable this functionality.

Re: VCA Push from SIM

I removed it here and then reinstalled. I've had a number of problems with OpenSSH and many are possibly a result of early tinkering.

I'm eagerly awaiting 4.1 where I intend to do a full removal of all old HPSIM and then a complete new install along with all of the follow up activities.

If you do remove / install OpenSSH, one trick to get things working again is to readd Administrator back into the passwd file.
