VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

Hi all, i've a problem with the communication between my vcrm and some of the vcagents i've installed.
At first look seems a firewall problem, because the servers that don't working are placed in dmz subnet, but i've just checked it and there are no problems (communication on port 2301 and 2381 is both allowed).
I'm not using administrator account for auth but another one with admin privileges (the same user works fine on all the other server).
I read all the HP doc's, but no help found.
Please Help Me!!!
PS: sorry for my poor english, i hope you understand.

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

All my VCAgents in my dmz subnet cannot contact my VCRM. they are in "unknown state -
VCAgent not configured". When i try to configure them i get the message " The specified repository, MYVCRM, is invalid or not reachable". I tryed using the VCRM system name, its fqdn and its IP Address. I checked my firewall logs for some blocked traffic, but nothing found (all the traffic between the servers goes on http and 2381, both allowed).
I get the same problem using the "Initial proliant support pack install" feature from the vcrm and the dmz servers. I tried uninstalling the vcagent, deleting the folder and reinstalling it, but didn't works (i found this tips in this forum).

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

Is the VCRM system a domain system, then we have to give the domainname\username in VCA while connecting to VCRM.

Which OS are you using?

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

All my servers are W2003 SP1. The vcrm is a domain controller, the dmz VCAgent aren't member servers, but i'm still using the Domain\username format...
I'm sure that isn't a user/pass problem because if i try to configure a working VCAgent with a wrong account i get another error message, not the one i specified in the previous post.

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

Can you please check the VCRM service. Is it running?
It shows "unknown status" only when the VCRM service is not running or when VCRM is busy contacting some other agents.

Can you try with only 1 VCA agent which is not getting connected with VCRM,disconnecting everything else.

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

Yes, the vcrm service is up and running correctly. How can i block any connection from all my vcagents to my vcrm server? Are you asking to me to stop the vcagent service on all the running servers? I' ve got 45 servers working correctly, is possible that the connection results unavailable only for the other 4 that doesn't work? My english is not very good... i'm trying to tell you that this hypothesis sounds strange to me. Only 4 of my 50 servers will find the vcrm server busy. Only that 4? and its a casuality that the only 4 that are not working are my 4 dmz's server? I don't want discuss your opinion, i'm not very expert with Insight manager and its related software so if you respond to me that for you this is a good step for troubleshooting i will follow your suggestion.

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

I've always used a local account on the VCRM Server for access to the VCRM.
This seems to work across DMZ's etc. without any issues.

I'm very happy for your environment. :-))
maybe the problem is that the vcrm server is also a domain controller?

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

Go to any non-working VCA system & try to browse to VCRM system using browser.

E.g. in IE try URL "https://:2381/vcrepository"

If you can't open VCRM, then it is Network issue (firewall, DNS etc...)

If you can open VCRM (SMH login page shows) in IE, try to login to VCRM with username & password that you want VCA to use

If login is not successful, then problem is with user account configuration. [SMH settings on VCRM for the username]

If login is successful then VCA should be able to connect to VCRM without any problem.

Re: VCAgent - VCRM connection problem

I solved the problem upgrading vcagent from 2.1.7 to 2.1.8.
Thanks to everyone for your support!!!
