VCRM Unseen

VCRM Unseen

OK, my second post in an hour...

I have my new SIM box up and running. I think that my earlier problems were with incorrect login details for the VCRA service. However, I'm now trying to point the VCA on one of my (throretically) managed servers to the VCRM, and I get this:

"No inventory information is available to obtain a list of Support Packs from. A valid Version Control Repository Manager that contains one or more Support Packs must be configured before a Reference Support Pack may be selected. If you have just selected a repository, please wait a few minutes and then refresh this page".

The repository is there. Can't see how I've mis-configured it, but I guess I must have. Any ideas?

Re: VCRM Unseen

I guess you need to populate the Repository with Proliant Support packs. Make sure that you have the corresponding PSP in the Repository for the requesting VCA i.e. if you have installed VCA on a Windows 2000 server then Windows 2000 support pack should be available in the Repository.

Re: VCRM Unseen

The VCRM downloads drivers and updates based on the type of hardware and Operating Systems that were found during Automatic Discovery. As long as you do not have discovered a single system, your VCRM will not be filled with any software.

Please check:
-in Options, Discovery, Automatic Discovery, whether the correct IP-ranges are entered. If you are using ILO-boards with IP-addresses on different IP-ranges, enter those IP-ranges as well.
-if you are using the same SNMP-community name on the HPSIM-machine and on the Managed Systems. Remember SNMP-community names are case sensitive!
-if the correct Support Pack is installed on your Managed Systems. This should provide for the correct hardware and driver information.

Re: VCRM Unseen

The repository IS populated, but I think that the problem might be with the discovery. I've had problems with SIM discovering too much (we have a diverse IP range, so I've decided to populate the database purely with a hosts file), and so I didn't run an automatic discovery at all. The documentation suggests that this is essential. Also, by doing it in this was, no system was identified.
