Version Control Agent

I have setup a Version Control Repository Manager and deployed a per-configured Version Control Agent to multiple servers. I am now trying to figure out what triggers the VCA's to check in with the VCRM. Is it all a manual process where I have to open up the HP System Management Homepage and then go to Version Control or is there some sort of automated process that will get the agents to check in with the VCRM?
