Version Control and firewalls

I work in an envoronment full of firewalls and access lists. I need to know the minimum requirements for VCA to work. I know it uses 2381 to do its' work, but it also requires 2301, apparently just to get a cookie and be redirected to 2381. Is there a way to make VCA use 2381 to get the cookie and skip the redirection? TIA

In my configuration VCA works through 2 firewalls and port 2301 is necessary, otherwise VCA just don't see the repository. Though I have no idea why.
