Want to integrate HP UX 11.23 box into SIM.
Hi All,
I've got Systems Insight Manager running on a windows 2003 box, it's monitoring all my other boxes but has been a while since we set it all up and my memory fails me (we took notes but still having issues).
I've added the HP UX 11.23 system and it shows up on SIM, but SIM is only able to tell me whether or not the system is responding to polling. SIM is also able to idetify the power management homepage on teh HP UX server (which has a UPS monitoring program installed by HP technician).
However, what I want the HP UX box to do is report any issues or events to the SIM like my windows machines do, which is such a handy thing and saves looking through logs every day.
But, i've missed something... Every day at just after 4:00pm I see these errors in the /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file on the HP UX 11.23 server:
Jul 11 16:05:25 prod cimserver[1278]: PGS17200: Authentication failed for user\WBEM.
Jul 11 16:05:51 prod sshd[10422]: Did not receive identification string from
I'm paranoid so I've maked out the internal IP address and internal domain name.
So, obviously i need to supply some authentication details to SIM which is on my windows 2k3 box, but can't for the life of me figure out where I do this.
I'm running C.05.00.00.00.
Any help or advise would be most appreciated.
-John

Re: Want to integrate HP UX 11.23 box into SIM.
Ok. I've done some more work on this.
I've done the following:
A) Clicked 'All systems' which shows all my servers
B) Clicked on the HP UX 11.23 server i want to integrate
C) Selected the 'Tools & Links' tab
D) Selected 'System Protocol Settings' link
Now, this (I imagine) where one can tell SIM how to communicate with a specific box, i can see a SSH setup option where I can put in a user ID and Password.
Now... is there some software that I need to install onto the HP UX box first?
Does the user ID and Password need to be the ROOT user ID and password? If so, is this data encrypted?
