What to do if the CMS becomes an orphan ?

If the SIM CMS server itself becomes orphaned, why does this happen and how can I correct it, HP has earlier recommended me to delete orphaned objects and rediscover them, which works fine for a normal server but I'm not allowed to delete the CMS ?
