why does SIM show vca as not installed

On SIM console device has ? against SW ie software status which suggests that VCA isn't installed, yet it is. I've tried running identify and auto discovery but no update.
Any idea what the problem is.

Did you try STATUS POLLING>SOFTWARE STATUS POLLING and DATA COLLECTION?

You have to point your VCA to a VCRM (HP Version Control Repository Manager) on your network. The VCRM should have some reference ProLiant Support Packs in them. Once you do this, VCA will be able to report a software status and the same will be collected by SIM once you run Software Status polling task.

well that sorted it. Odd as it was a new build. Maybe manual discovery doesn't do everything that automatic does.

yes initial problem sorted thanks. ON the new G5's which has on board ilo, why does sim report that no MP is present

Did you discover the MP in sim,and if yes please verify if it associated,if not that the answer why it not showing up!
