windows 2008 PSPs in repository?

hi all,

i'm running HP SIM C.05.01.00.02 (5.1 SP1) on windows 2003, but as of yet it has not downloaded any windows 2008 support packs.

i have just installed a new windows 2008 x64 domain controller and would like to add it to insight manager. this I can do, however as the repository has no windows 2008 x64 psp's it gives an error, allowing me to continue without selecting a reference pack or cancelling the setup.

is there a place where i can configure the downloading of particular packages / OSs from within SIM or is this not supported yet?

Thanks in advance

Re: windows 2008 PSPs in repository?

I have just installed an windows 2003 x64 for the first time. I had the same problem but managed to fix it.

Make sure the network connection on your new x64 server is not firewalled by windows internal firewall. This was causing me issues.

next is to point the new windows 2008 x64 HP version control agent to the central repository. You will get the error but just continue.

Next time the repostitory is automatically or manually updated for www.hp.com then it should down the required PSP for windows 2008 x64.

I think this is how it works.

Re: windows 2008 PSPs in repository?

hi steven,

thanks for the info. i have done as you ask (continued with repository configuration) but there is no 2008 PSP in my repository. I guess the next time that SIM goes to download updates from HP it will now pull down any 2008 x64 software now that it knows there's a Windows 2008 box in the system.

Thanks

Re: windows 2008 PSPs in repository?

go to the server that has your repository. go to the System manage homepage, click on version control repository manager. go to catalog then click udate from hp now.
after that check the log tab.

hopefully the update should start and not stop within 5 minutes. If you get no messages in the log that the update has completed check you repository directory and it may of started to download some new files.
