Xerox Document Center Printer Traps unregistred

I received from xerox there original mib files and imported and registred all the mib files conntaining in the attachement into HP Systems Manager. They were all successfully merged into the database. The Traps that we receive are still unregistred. Example

Enterprise OID String. 1.3.6.1.4.1.253.8.59.19.4
Generic Trap ID. 6
Specific Trap ID. 0

Has anyone experience with importing the xerox mibs into HP Systems Manager or could hp compile cfg files for Xerox Printers that would run.

Re: Xerox Document Center Printer Traps unregistred

Hi,

Did you first create a new "System Type" for the Xerox Printers?

This is done in SIM under Options -> Discovery -> Manage System Types.

This registers the OID for your printers in SIM. Traps receieved after that should be unregistered.

If you have already discovered the printers, run "Identify Systems" (Options -> Discovery -> Identify Systems) after creating the new System Type.

Good luck,
- Steve

Just to add to what Steve posted, make sure that you have the Xerox mibs and that they compiled and registered in SIM. If nto SIM will not be able to properly interpret the traps and will report them as unregistered.

Re: Xerox Document Center Printer Traps unregistred

Thanks for your input. I have done your steps before i aked this forum, so i allready defined a System Type (the Printer is recogniced in HP Systems Manager as a Xerox Docucenter 432 ST, and also mcompile and mxmib -a all the files i have attached, but the traps are all unregistred that i receive from this printer. So my question is if anyone in the world has successfully integraded the attached xerox mibs (which i received originally from xerox) into HP Systems Manager, or if HP could test the attached mibs from xerox in her lab to check if those mibs are compatible or not with HP Systems Manager

Re: Xerox Document Center Printer Traps unregistred

After a lot of work, I finally got all these MIBs to compile - are you positive they all worked for you?

I had to rename several of the Xerox MIBs - did you do that too?

Finally, I searched and searched but can't locate a trap with that OID + number. Any idea what trap it was supposed to be?

Could it be that there are more Xerox MIBs that you are missing?
Dude, we've been totally misled by our album covers!

Re: Xerox Document Center Printer Traps unregistred

Scott

Had the same work. Over one hour to compile and import them all. Yes you are right had to rename all the files first, that they don't start with nummeric digits. Then while mcompile some mibs, rename missing mibs to the appropriate name 02common.mib was at last xerox_common_mib.mib and so on.

Received this mibs from xerox direct and the trap is generated from the printer when you send a job, and the printer has not the right paper in (printed to legal, but only A4 is in the printer).

How did you search this oid. The trap should be stored in the 59svcmon.mib (in readme.txt xerox write that the 58svctc.mib and 59svcmon.mib provide monitoring for additional services available on multifunction printers. So in the HP Systems Insight Manager i see (when accepting also unregistred traps) the above one:

Enterprise OID String. 1.3.6.1.4.1.253.8.59.19.4
Generic Trap ID. 6
Specific Trap ID. 0
