I have an HP A2998A UPS. The unit started making a repeating humming sound. It hummed about once every second (no beeping). Also the front LED's went blank, and it cut power to my server. I reset power to the UPS and it came up and the LED's lit up properly, but no power to server. I put the UPS into bypass mode, and the system came up.
I disconnected the batteries to test them, and as soon as I did this, the UPS made the same repeating humming sound. The battery units had approx. 61 and 67 volts DC. Are these voltages withing normal range, or could this be a problem with the electronics. Your help is appreciated.

Re: A2998A Problem
I found out that someone had added a fully loaded MOD 20. This overloaded the UPS and took out the electronics. Thanks for your feedback.
