Hi there mates,
I am newly in HPE Community, thank you to accept me here.
I have recently purchased an HP Proliant Microserver Gen8, I have configured a static IP, shared NIC. I can access iLO through the web browser. I have configured 4 HDDs in RAID 1. However, I do not know how to access to the folders and files system.
Previously, I had a Buffalo NAS, which I accessed the folders and files system by putting the IP in Windows explorer.
How is this done on HP Microserver?
Thank you very much for your help.
Best Regards,
Mike

Re: Query: Access to Files and Folders in HP Proliant Microserver Gen8
Hi support_s,
Thank you for your quickly response. But..., what I need to do with OmniStack? Do I need to install it or something so? Is it installed in tn the iLO itself? Do I only need to activate somewhere?
I thougth that same as Buffalo NAS, that I didn't need to do anything extra, here will be the same. Just configure some parameters to can access throught the Windows Explorer and that's all.
I really apreciate all your help.
Best Regards,
Mike

Re: Access to Files and Folders in HP Proliant Microserver Gen8
Hello,
If you have setup the NAS shares as you would on any other Windows system, you can access it the same way on this server as well. Once Windows is installed and configured, it behaves the same way on any server make.

Re: Access to Files and Folders in HP Proliant Microserver Gen8
Hello JVVJ,
The problem is that I don't know how to configure the Microserver as a NAS. The Microserver is as it is when you buy it, the only thing I configure is the static IP, the shared NIC (to access throught the net, by the way, I can access it), the RAID 1 for the 4 HDDs, and no more things.
If I put the IP in the web browser, I can access to the iLO config page. But if I put it in a windows explorer I can't see anything.
Do I need to config something more in my HP Microserver?
Thank you very much for your time and your help.
Best Regards,

Re: Access to Files and Folders in HP Proliant Microserver Gen8
Hello,
The IP address of iLO would only provide you access to the iLO configuration. You will need to install the desired operating system (OS) on to the server and then configure the required functionality. Any server for that matter does not come preloaded with OS. Either you will have to get that as part of the purchase or install it after you receive it.

Hello,
Oh! I need to install an OS...! Ouch! I thought that the server was mounted as a NAS or something so.
Ok, then I am going to go on that way.
Really thank you all for your help.
I hope all will be ok.

SolutionDuring the POST you can use the F10 option to enter intelligent provisioning where you can setup RAID via Smart Storage Administrator and also create a logical drive on which you can proceed to install the operating system. One the OS is installed then you can configure NAS on it.

Re: Access to Files and Folders in HP Proliant Microserver Gen8
Hello Bunsol,
Thank you very much for your help and happy new year to all.
This week I have been away for Christmas, but next week I will try to do that, the RAID is already configured, now I have to see how to configure to have the OS on another HDD or even on a SSD that I have seen some of that on the internet.
Thanks again.
