Bifurcation Hp Proliant dl380 gen9
Good afternoon, does the pcie server support bifurcation, installed the latest bios 2.90 firmware, installed the board in slot 4 (secondary)
I found this documentation, where it is indicated that it supports bifurcation, tell me what's wrong?
support hpe com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=c05060771
Added support to configure the system to bifurcate PCIe Slot 1 on the DL360 Gen9 or PCIe Slot 2 on the DL380 Gen9

Re: Bifurcation Hp Proliant dl380 gen9
Hi,
PCIe Bifurcation option is not available as setting in Gen9 UEFI utilities (as of writing this post).
There are few other posts which discuss this:
https://community.hpe.com/t5/Servers-General/HPE-Proliant-dl160-gen9-bifurcation/td-p/7133232
Settings are only available in Gen10 Servers.

@Suman_1978 - I'm confused why you claim it's not available?
The very link you referenced, states that it is indeed available.
In addition, that same link references the HPE UEFI Release Notes PDF, which explicitly states that it's available, quote: PCIeSlot 2 on the DL380Gen9.

It's available under RBSU.
It's a hidden menu: when in RBSU, press CTRL+A. Then see bifurcation.

Re: Bifurcation Hp Proliant dl380 gen9
Did anyone get this to work? I am running DL380 G9 with 2 x 2699v4 CPU's. I have a Gen10 PCIe retimer card in slot 2 and is is enabled in BIOS. It doesn't seem to see the U.2 PCIe Drive Bay with drives. The drives work when in a pcie to U.2 adapter in the riser cards.
It would be nice to use the drives in standard carriers for easy maintainance.

Re: Bifurcation Hp Proliant dl380 gen9
STEP1: On my HP Proliant DL380 G9, there is a тАЬhidden BIOS menuтАЭ. To
access that, press F10 and A. (not sure this is it).
NOTE: itтАЭs been some time since I did it, so try to google тАЬHP server BIOS
hidden menuтАЭ. You will find the right key combination to acces it!!!
STEP 2: Then, in BIOS will be available under AdvancedтАж PCIe settings the
option to bifurcate the 2тАЩnd PCIe slot. Unfortunately, on my server I can
do x8x8 only. There is no option like 4x4x4x4 as I need.
STEP3: Place in the 2тАЩnd slot a 4x4x4x4 adapter (search Amazon for JEYI
https://www.amazon.com/Expansion-Supports-256Gbps-Support-Bifurcation/dp/B09F31ZXKQ
) with 1 and 3 ports filled with M.2 SSD. Boot the server normally.
You shoud see 2 x M.2 ssd in Disk Management. As the server canтАЩt bifurcate
in 4x4x4x4, that means only the first segment of each x8 is available to
see some ssd.
I didтАЭt try to setup the server with U.2 disks, but for sure this has
nothing to do with bifurcation. The manual is a joke for this configuration.
