Change boot order in HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen9?

Hi there

First, i had one SSD in that machine (as a boot disk), then i added 6 WD Red HDDs... after that, the system i not ablt to boot anymore. Boot SSD is in Slot #1 - so why that behavior?

Isn't slot #1 the slot for booting by default?

What do i need to do for solving that problem?

-> Can't see any options in Smart Storage Manager - but i can see the [all] disks.

SO: Where to define the boot order? (Server in in legacy mode, no UEFI)

Re: Change boot order in HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen9?

-> NO Hardware RAID - SSD disk is for booting and the 6 HDDs are for a Linux Software RAID-5...

I can't see any options to define the boot order, neither in BIOS nor in storage administrator... since i added the 6 HDDs, the controller (ALL is in HBA mode!!) can't boot anymore...

SO: How to solve that problem? I can't believe that it is unsolveable!!

Re: Change boot order in HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen9?

The SSD boot device in bay 1 is now /dev/sdd (in storage administrator) after adding the other 6 HDDs...

So: How to change the SSD boot device in bay 1 to /dev/sda...?

Now we swapped the boot SSD from Bay #1 to Bay #4 and it boots again - but that can't be a clean solution, not really??!?

Greetings!

I understand that the controller is set in HBA mode.
