DL380p G8 Intelligent Provisioning, NVRAM and System Maintenance
I have a DL380 G8 that won't run Intelligent Provisioning or the SSA. After the "pulsing" HP logo comes on the screen, it just sits. Hitting escape to remove the splash screen, it has "Can't run '/etc/init.d/rcS': input/output error".
I've tried to use the Intelligent Provisioning recovery media, but it gives an error regarding the NVRAM and to "please try again".
I've shut it down, pulled the power cords, flipped switch 6 to "on" and restored power, and the system sort of boots twice. It shows the iLO IPv4 address as "unknown," but once it gets to the "initializing BIOS console" (or whatever) just before it would start the HP splash screen, it goes back through PCI initialization again, but the iLO address I'd configured initially is back.
Once it provides the message that the maintenance switch is in the "on" position, I power it off, pull the cords, flop the switch back to "off", and restore power. Boot it up and no configs have been cleared. Everything is as it was, and I still can't run the IP or use the IP recovery media.
Any additional suggestions on how to get IP working?
Thanks

Re: DL380p G8 Intelligent Provisioning, NVRAM and System Maintenance
Hello,
I would suggest you check/update the server with the latest bios and firmware as well as upgrade the Intelligent Provisioning
You can skip only two versions if the server is running very old bios and firmware.
HPE ProLiant Gen8 Servers - Software and Driver Download
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c05029574#N10011
Latest bios: 2019.05.24(12 Jun 2019)
Latest ILO 4 firmware:2.75
If the server is running very old and bios you have to update latest SPP 8.1 from the below link. After that, you have to download latest bios and firmware and update.
Service Pack for ProLiant 8.1
