DL580 Gen10 and SSF SATA SSD drives

Hi everyone,

We have a Proliant DL580 Gen10 server with an empty 8-bay SFF drive cage (located in box 1) and no Smart Array controllers.

We want to add 2 SFF SSD SATA drives in the SFF disk cage (Box1) and connect them to the SATA controllers on the system board.

But after a quick check of the Proliant DL580 Gen10 user guide, we can't find any validated wiring solution that matches our goal.

Does anyone have a suggestion or advice for us?

Thank you

Re: DL580 Gen10 and SSF SATA SSD drives

Hello,

Please refer to the Server Service and Maintenance guide below

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-a00030295en_us

For cabling information refer to page 162 onwards

Refer to server user guide page 26 for embedded SATA port location

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-a00030298en_us

Also , you would need a Mini SAS/SATA cable to connect from the backplane to the onboard controller.

Refer Service and maintenance guide page 151 .

Thanks,
TAM
