HDD's and their warranty question.

It seems one of my three HDD's (a 9gb WU 2 SCSI) has died on me. The system does not recognize it anymore. The light on the driver does this same flickering pattern, one flicker then followed by a series of three flickers, repeat.

I bought this system used a while ago and was wondering on HP's/Compaqs HDD warranty. I've bought used HDD's before and was still able to get a replacement (from other HDD companies)because the drive had a universal 5 year warranty.

I have tried looking for the warranty information but cannot find anything that deals with HDD's. Does HP/Compaq have any kind of universal x years HDD warranty?

Re: HDD's and their warranty question.

Compaq / HP will warranty the drive based upon the serial number of the server it was in. If the system is out of warranty, the drives would be out of warranty (they figure 3 years for everything in the box)

Now, if you have a receipt of sale showing that the drives were purchased at some point in warranty, they should honor it.

You really need to call HP and discuss what options you have available.

All that said, a 9GB drive is likely not going to have warranty left on it.

Re: HDD's and their warranty question.

Don't take my word as the final answer... give HP a call first.

What is the serial Number on the server, we can look it up for you prior to calling?
Enjoy!
