Hello!
I want to ask how many battery modules 638829-001 are in the UPS HPE G2 R5000 (AF461A)? The User Guide documentation shows one battery, but I'm told there are three of them.

Hello,
UPS battery is only one, but i believe you are referring to ERM.
Extended Runtime Module (ERM), R5000
The UPS R5000 supports up to four Extended Runtime Modules. Each module is 3U (5.25 inches), a rack mountable battery module
that extends your overall battery runtime.

SolutionLate to the party, but for anyone else with this question...
My R5000 (AF460A, not a "G2") has three battery packs, or what the manual calls тАЬEasily replaceable battery modulesтАЭ.
However, regardless of the packaging, it is electrically ONE "battery", with the output from the three modules wired in series. Each module contains six 12 volt gel batteries bound in clear plastic, totalling 18 batteries. In fact, each 12v battery has six atomic cells. So what you have, is 108 two-volt cells all wired in series to give you one 216-volt battery.
Whether they are packaged into one big module as shown in the picture, or 3 modules like mine, it's still one battery.
Also, remeber the rule: it doesnтАЩt matter if itтАЩs a two-cell flashlight (torch), or a 108-cell UPS. If some cells are bad, you should replace them all. Leaving bad cells in a battery can damage the new cells.
