HP IP Console Switch G2 - Firmware 2.60 - HTML5 serial viewer not working

We are using an HP IP Console Switch G2 2x1Ex16 - AF621A to have an emergency access to our switch and firewall infrastructure. Currently the we are running on firmware 2.4.0 and opening a serial session the appliance starts a JAVA application window for the connection.

For the firmware version 2.6.0 from Dec 2019 one of the listed enhancements is that the OBWI JAVA serial viewer is replaced with HTML5 serial viewer. https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_84725cf932e443689ef279dc82#tab2

We really appreciate that change, so we could starting to use a modern browser and don’t' stuck with the old Internet Explorer.

Now when we update the Console switch firmware to 2.6.0 the serial session viewer is not working anymore. When using a browser like Firefox or Chrome the pop-up window gets immediately closed after a second. When using Internet Explorer, a pop-up window opens with the black terminal session screen but the usual line "You are no connected to the target" won't come up.

TCP Port 4206 as required is open an reachable via telnet.

Does anyone expierence similar behaviour?

Hi,

I am not from the team who supports KVM switches, but was going throught the release notes which gives the below informaiton.

• Internet Explorer Versions 8 and 9 are no longer supported as client browsers.

• The following chart indicates the latest version tested:

Alternatively, try clearing the browser cache and check if it works.

thank you for your respone. But Internet Explorer we are using is verison 11 and Chrome and Firefox are also the latest version. Although in the release notes is written something about Chrome 75, but this release is now about from a year.

And it isn't a browser caching problem either. Browser cache we already tried to delede. 

It has to be something else.

The newest firmware 2.8.3 released on September 11th 2020 seems to have the exact same issue.
