HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR Gen10 & Samsung SSD 1TB, 2TB, 4TB. 8TB support
One of our servers is a MicroServer Gen10+ with a Smart Array E208i-p. Installed 2TB SAS got south and we are thinking to replace all four of them with a 2TB Samsung 870 EVO or 860 PRO. Well, even 4TB and 8TB Samsung SSDs are an option.
Did anyone try those SSD's? Ok, I know the compatibility list and blah, blah, blah. But I refuse to believe that HPE would "lock" itself to a few old HDs (from today's standpoint). Anyway, what would be an option/replacement for SA E208i that would work with these new SSDs?
Any info is greatly appreciated!
Cheers, D.

Re: HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR Gen10 & Samsung SSD 1TB, 2TB, 4TB. 8TB support
Hi I Haq
Although I said that I would appreciate any info, your info is not so helpful. But thank you anyway. I went through the official documentation available before and there's no mention about new SSDs. So, I'm looking for some info from someone that did actually try using four newer (1TB, 2TB, 4TB) Samsung (or else) SSDs in a Raid 5 configuration.
Thx,D.

This document definitely help you.
It does not! The only mention of SSD in that Doc is an old 240GB that doesn't fit today's standard anymore.
The only useful info I found is from ServeTheHome.com: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-_CyKuJz9s&t=1541s
where they state that, well..., any SSD should work. Though they didn't try a 4x SSD raid config.
Again, any no-nonsense info from those that tried this is GREATLY appreciated.
THX, D.

see this is dated but...
Did you ever try/get an answer on this?

Nope! No one bothers to answer. This days is pretty normal that vendors (in general) throw a product on the market ...and forget about the support. They achieved their goal - they sold to you their **bleep**!
Sorry for the sarcasm but... here we are.
Cheers, D.
