ILO 5 V

HP DL380 G10

iLO 5, 3.18 Feb 08 2026

I intend to use the F9, F11... keys in the HTML5 console. But I can't get them to work. How can I overcome this?

Thanks

Re: ILO 5 V

Hi,

Yeah… iLO 5 and the HTML5 console are pretty annoying with the F‑keys. You’re not missing anything.

Most of the time the keys don’t work because the browser grabs them first, so iLO never even sees F9, F10, F11, etc. Happens to me all the time.

What usually works for me:

  • Use the on‑screen keyboard in the iLO console and send F9/F10 from there.
  • Put the console in full screen before booting, sometimes that helps.
  • If you’re using Chrome or Edge, don’t waste too much time — Firefox sometimes behaves a bit better.
  • Worst case, reconnect the console and retry; I’ve had it randomly start working after a reconnect.

Honestly, when I need to get into BIOS quickly, I just use the virtual keyboard and move on. Fighting the browser isn’t worth it.

Hope that saves you some time.

Re: ILO 5 V

Hello Carlos

You refer "Use the on‑screen keyboard in the iLO console and send F9/F10 from there."

1) You refer the "virtual keyboard", located in the top left corner of the HTML5 console? If yes, i do not see any virtual key F..., how  I send F9/F10 from there?

Also refer "I just use the virtual keyboard and move on..".

2) Are we talking about the same device mentioned in 1) ?

You have a portuguese name. Are you Portuguese?

Best Regards

Re: ILO 5 V

Hello,

To answer your questions:

1) In iLO 5 using the HTML5 console, access is done from the top toolbar of the remote console.

2) In the same console, there is a Special Keys option. From there, you will find the function keys:

  • F9System Utilities
  • F10Intelligent Provisioning
  • F11Boot Menu

This is the recommended method to send function keys during POST or system boot.

And regarding your last question, my name is quite common in several countries. For example, I am from Costa Rica, but I have been living in Colombia for the past 16 years.

Best regards,
Carlos
