Inserting new drives into a HPE Apollo R2800 - not detected
We have a HPE R2800 four nodes - with default drive slot mapping - six drives slots per node. When I insert a new drive the server is not detecting the new drive. Tried different slots and two different servers - no go. The drive is OK as I inserted it into a DL360 G10 and it was fine.
There is power to the slot as on insert very briefly there are lights - but not the normal sequence you would expect.
We have another R2800 where the same action worked fine.
Am I missing something here?

Query: Inserting new drives into a HPE Apollo R2800 - not detected
System recommended content:
1. HPE ProLiant Servers - Hard Drive(s) Not Being Detected/Recognized During POST
2. HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Server – SATA Hard Disk in Bay 11 and Bay 12 Not Detected

Re: Inserting new drives into a HPE Apollo R2800 - not detected
Hello,
In the issue description, it has been mentioned above "Tried different slots and two different servers - no go" and also "The drive is OK as I inserted it into a DL360 G10 and it was fine.."
In light of the above statements, I request you to check the following:
a. Please insert a known working hard drive having the same part number as that of the other drives in the chassis. It is possible, that inadvertently, a different type of hard drive might have been installed. For instance, in the drive cage having SAS drives, one SATA drive may not be added to the RAID array as mixing types of disks is not recognized by the HPE Smart Array Controllers.
b. If the hard drive is the same type and is a known working one, which still has issues in that port, then you may need to contact HPE Support for further isolating the issue.
Regards,
