ProLiant DL380 Gen10 using HP MM2000JEFRC

Hello all,
I am currently in the process of upgrading our server (a ProLiant DL380 Gen10 with HPE P408i-a SR Gen10) with additional hard drives. I have encountered a problem and do not really know where I can get the appropriate information.
I have two of the HP MM2000JEFRC (HPE 2TB 12G 7.2K SAS (512e) 2.5" SFF Hard Disk / Hard Disk with Smart Carrier - 765873-001 / 765466-B21), these are both not recognized by the controller.

./ssacli ctrl slot=0 pd 2I:3:7 show detail

Sanitize Erase Supported: False
Shingled Magnetic Recording Support: None
Drive Unique ID: A5FBEB8CF9DFB65A

This is identical for both hard disks.
Other hard drives in the bay are recognized, so I do not assume an error of the bay.

My question now is if I am doing something wrong? I need to adjust the controller? The hard drives are generally not compatible with the server?

FWIW, according to the firmware release notes for this drive model, the latest version (HPDA) on the HPE Support Center "addresses a hot plug reporting concern":

@pchops

Hello,
first of all thank you for the information.
I have since updated the firmware of the controller from version 5.0 to 5.32. In addition, I tried to raise the firmware of the hard drives from the version HPD4 to the HPDA.
But the firmware tool shows me the message:

The two hard drives are not recognized by the controller, so I can't update them.
I have already restarted the server via "Restart" and completely disconnect from power.

Re: ProLiant DL380 Gen10 using HP MM2000JEFRC

Hello all,
I am unfortunately still facing the problem of getting my two hard drives to work.

Rebooting the server does not change the status of the HDDs (they remain in "Falied" status with the message "Init start unit failed").
Therefore I can not update them with the new firmware. Additionally I tried to update the HDDs via another server (Smart Array P410 Controller), but they are not recognized there either.

[root@CDVM04:/tmp/CP052066] ./CP052066.vmexe
Online HDD/SSD Flash Component for VMware ESXi - MM1000JEFRB and MM2000JEFRC Drives (HPDA), searching...
The following 2 device(s) will not be updated
* Drive 2I:3:7 (HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 in Slot 0)
* Drive 2I:3:8 (HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 in Slot 0)

Reason:
Requires device and all attached and associated devices to have "OK" status

Is there another possibility I can try? I do not necessarily assume that the disks are defective, since it affects both disks. I would be grateful for any tips.
