Proliant DL380e GEN8 graphic card resolution
Hello,
I realise this is no longer a supported server but I would appreciate some help.
According to the following link the graphic specification of the above server is as follows.
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=c03369047#N10692
1280 x 1024 (32 b/p)
1920 x 1200 (16 b/p)
However I can only select one of the following
1600 x 1200
1280 x 1024
1280 x 960
1152 x 864
1024 x 768
How can I add the option to select 1920 x 1080.
Do i need to add another graphics card that supports this resolution or upgrade my operating system.
Many Thanks in advance for help.
J

Re: Query: Proliant DL380e GEN8 graphic card resolution
Thanks for your reply but your answer was of no help.
Both documents that you referenced show that I should be able to set the resolution on my server to 1920 x 1200 but on the desktop under display settings I can't.
I can only select 1620 x 1200.
Can I add an updated graphics card to this server to allow me to do this and if so which model do you recommend.
Regards
J

Re: Proliant DL380e GEN8 graphic card resolution
Are you using appropriate and latest Matrox G200eH video driver provided by HPE for your HPE ProLiant.
What's about your display...does it support 1920x1200 pixels resolution at 16 or 32 bpp color depths *natively* or it support 1920x1024 pixels (Full-HD) or, at best, lower graphic resolutions only (like 1024x768)?

Re: Proliant DL380e GEN8 graphic card resolution
Please update your VGA driver to latest and check,
also check if your monitor supports 1920x1024 resolution.

Sudhir

Re: Proliant DL380e GEN8 graphic card resolution
Thank you all very much for your help.
I have found an updated driver for the installed card but it only supports server 2016 & 2019 and I think here lies the issue as i am currently running server 2012 and I cant install it.
Does the Proliant DL380e Gen8 support both of these operating systems?
Thanks in advanced.

Re: Proliant DL380e GEN8 graphic card resolution
Hello.
So I have installed Windows Server 2016 and have installed the latest drivers for my video card (Matrox G200eH)
from the following website.
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/swd/detail?swItemId=MTX-4360dc484acb4f8badf3d9ea42#tab-history
However I still can only get the following resolutions
1600 x 1200
1280 x 1024
1280 x 960
1152 x 864
1024 x 768
Where is my 1920 x 1080?
What graphics card will work in this server?
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Proliant DL380e GEN8 graphic card resolution
Hi,
Yes,
It is a Dell P2414H which I have working with a Dell PC over HDMI and I can select 1920 x 1080. The server is connected via VGA.
Is it possible for it to support 1920x1080 over HDMI but not VGA?
Thanks
J
