While connected to the serial connection of the card you should see something like this after the reset:

HP UPS Management Module
NETWORK INTERFACE PARAMETERS:
IP address is blabla
Subnet mask is 255.255.252.0
Default gateway is blabla
HARDWARE PARAMETERS:
Module Serial number is P38900
MAC address is 00:24:bla
Copyright (C) 2003-2007 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.

Press any key in 5 seconds to enter the Service menu.

HP UPS Management Module Service Menu

1. Module Configuration
2. UPS Pass-through
3. Exit

Set your terminal emulator to

to COMx, 115200, 8-N -1-None.

but you may also try 9600 speed setting.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: q1c17a HPE Single Phase 1Gb UPS Ntwrk Mgmt Mod - reset password or factory reset

Have you tried signing in with factory default user name and password?

1. Enter the user name in the User Name field. The default user name is admin.
2. Enter the password in the Password field. The default password is admin.

If yes and still you are unable to login in HPE Single Phase 1Gb UPS Ntwrk Mgmt Mod with default login credentials,

Then please follow the below steps.

Steps to Recover/Reset the password.

1. Be sure that you have connected the configuration cable to the management module and the host computer with an open terminal emulation session.

2. Press the Reset button on the management module front panel.

3. On the terminal emulation session screen running on the host computer, the POST executes, and the following prompt appears:

Press any key in 5 seconds to enter Service menu.

4. Press a key to enter the HP UPS Management Module Service Menu.

5. Change/reset the password and other settings required to access module remotely.

Betreff: q1c17a HPE Single Phase 1Gb UPS Ntwrk Mgmt Mod - reset password or factory reset

This is probably way too late for the original post however if anyone else in the future has the same problem resetting the Q1C17A Network Management Mod here should be the answer:

  • Unscrew the management card from the back up the USV and pull it out
  • On the back of the management card are 4 DIP switches
  • Remove the protective sticker and toggle the DIP switch labeled 3
  • Plug the card back in the USV and boot the System. During the boot sequence the management card will detect the switch and automatically reset the admin user back to its default password (also ‘admin’)
  • Shutdown the USV, remove the management card and toggle the DIP switch back to its default location
  • Reinstall the management card back in the USV
  • You should now be able to log in with the default user account (Username: ‘admin’ and Password: ‘admin’)

For those who also didn’t find the manual easily: https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00044618en_us

The password reset process is described on page 97
