R5000 UPS shows "unknown" in web interface

Good afternoon, all!

We're taking over management of some HPE R5000 UPS units. We're pretty sure these haven't had battery replacements in like, forever. We're going to start getting these managed and healthy again.

One unit's web interface shows "unknown Computer Room" with grayed-out icons on the Power Source page. We tried re-enabling communications with no success. The battery capacity shows 30 minutes remaining backup time, which is plenty to cover the time before the generators start up. Battery status also shows "OK", so I'm not too concerned the units will all collapse in a pile on the floor, but I'd really like to get this one showing healthy.

Has anyone seen this symptom and successfully resolved it?

Thanks to all for looking!

Gregg

Re: R5000 UPS shows "unknown" in web interface

Hello,

I can offer some general suggestions that may help you resolve the issue.

Check network connectivity: Ensure that the UPS unit is properly connected to the network and can communicate with the monitoring system. Verify that the network settings are correct and that there are no network configuration issues.

Restart the UPS: Try rebooting the UPS unit to see if it resolves the communication issue. Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor glitches.

Update firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for the UPS unit. Updating the firmware can address known issues and improve compatibility with the monitoring system.

Reset the UPS: If restarting doesn't work, you can try performing a factory reset on the UPS unit. Be cautious as this will reset all settings to their default values. Refer to the UPS documentation or contact HPE support for instructions on how to reset the device.

Verify SNMP settings: Ensure that the SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) settings on both the UPS and the monitoring system are correctly configured. SNMP is commonly used for monitoring and managing UPS devices.

I hope this helps you.
