Hi Dennis,

yes, I've contacted HPSC after writing my posts in this forum, but they told after some time of researching, that it isn't possible anymore to reset the password or generate a one-time-pw.

Only changing the kvm-switch could help us - but the switch is out of waranty an there's no active care pack available.... 

off topic:

In this thread are a lot of posts regarding "I need a code - please send me a code" - why is there no comment from a heavy-user or mod like yours? A lot of people hoped to get help here in this forum, but except your posting, there's no hint about that nobody can expect a solution (lika a code) from this forum.

I don't know about what to do with my kvm-switch - maybe I will use it without LAN-connction :-/

You won't get any help in this thread - you have to call the hp service center ... maybe the're able to help you .... the can't help me...

I have two of these units. one asks for the password on the on-screen display (when you hit PRTSCN)
i tried reset to factory settings via the console port - that worked but its still asking for password.
used the (4) option to set password - that password does not work on the screen - only the console.

I just bought a second hand HPE Server Console Switch (not IP) on an auction site but then I discovered it was password protected. Then I discovered the hassle, the pain for resetting it. Nevertheless I found the procedure described in this thread (admin->help). The switch provided a key, but then I discovered that that HPE Service Center doesn't provide support anymore for my (otherwise like new) device. Apparently I can throw my key away, along with the switch... :-(

Does anyone know any (more likeable) solution?

The only solution I had was to re-contact the guy who sold it to me.

He gave me a list of old passwords he knew and one was working.

Something I learned since then is to always ask for any existing password before to buy a 2nd hand device!

The HP support # is not much help all you get is asked by a robo chat person to pick that you need help with a Laptop PC, a Printer, or a Desktop PC and it does not recognise saying KVM Switch.  I could find no way to get a real person to ever be put on the line as customer support.  Very Frustrating!
