Reset KVM switch password

I've found multiple posts around getting a single use password for a KVM switch.

Could someone help me with that too?

Key: A 0C3B2808A934C7F

EID: 520921-0004A3-0000

I've already tried calling HPE through every phone number I could fine but no one could help me.

So I really hope someone can help me.

Kind regards,

Devedse

Re: Reset KVM switch password

Hello @devedse,

Per the official forums of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (“HP”), the procedure for resetting the KVM Console Switch password is: On the console switch login screen click “Forgot Password” (if available) → it will show you a 16‑digit Key + EID number.

You are then instructed to contact HPE Technical Support, provide the Key + EID, and they’ll generate a one‑time unlock code.

If HP’s phone support or chat is not helping, you can:

Create a support case through the HPE support portal: support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home

Ensure you have proof of purchase or ownership ready (serial number, model number) because many devices require support entitlement or valid warranty/support contract for Unlock code generation.

Re: Reset KVM switch password

Hello @Azr_geek ,

I tried calling that number and spend about 2 hours trying to explain people what a KVM switch is, getting transfered, etc.. No one seemed to have any idea nor was open to help me at all. All in all a horribly frustrating experience if I may share.

I did see some people on the forum getting direct help from an HPE employee here:
https://community.hpe.com/t5/servers-general/one-use-password-to-reset-access-to-kvm-console-408965-001/td-p/7139867

https://community.hpe.com/t5/servers-general/reset-password-on-1x1x16-kvm/td-p/7094506

So I hoped to be able to reach someone as well through the forums.

I'll also create a support case, but please, if you have the ability to help me with this directly, would you be willing to do that for me?

Re: Reset KVM switch password

@devedse,

A few years ago, someone I know encountered a similar issue. Based on their experience, the recommended course of action was to create a support ticket, as that was the only viable resolution path available at the time.

Re: Reset KVM switch password

Hi @Azr_geek ,

I've been in an email struggle with HPE over the past few days. Again, people have no idea what a KVM switch is and have now reached the point of wanting to plan a site visit to replace the damaged/broken server parts (against payment).

what...

I really hope someone here on the forums knows how to fix this since the HPE support system is a complete dead end.

@SanjeevGoyal @ksram @Sunitha_Mod is there anyone on this forum who can help me?

Re: Reset KVM switch password

@devedse,

I am sorry, I was away for a while.

This is genuinely the best channel when normal support is stuck.

Go to the official HPE Community forum >> Create a new post describing your situation briefly, something like: >> Requesting HPE assistance for one-time password recovery for my KVM switch. (Provide Model name/ EID/ Key.

Wait for an HPE employee to reply. They’ll open a private message thread to verify ownership, and if it’s confirmed, generate the recovery password internally.

If you bought the device used, submit a warranty/ownership transfer form here: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/wc/public/warranty

That will ensure HPE’s internal systems recognize you as the current owner, which makes it easier for the community team or escalation support to issue the reset.

Re: Reset KVM switch password

@Azr_geek , so that's effectively the same as this post right? So shall I just create a new post every week in the hopes someone responds?

Re: Reset KVM switch password

@Azr_geek

Also the warranty page you linked doesn't seem to work:
https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/wc/public/warranty

This version of the Warranty Check tool has expired.
