The UPS output is off and on again

Hello everyone!

My clients UPS power protector software reports several output off and output on actions. Also in in the event log it is shown UPS on buck and UPS on buck cleared alternating.

It is a HP T1500 G3 UPS 1400.

Do you have some ideas what this notifications mean?

Thanks!

Re: The UPS output is off and on again

Voltage regulators (an UPS is also one) do have "buck" or "boost" modes. Buck mode is used when the input voltage is too high and it has to be dropped for a proper output.

Boost mode is the opposite, it is used when the input voltage is too low and it has to be stepped up.

Is the input voltage too high?
Is the UPS set to a too low voltage? (Input voltage can be changed by setup procedure)
