Update firmware without download SPP / Update firmware by SSH

Hello everyone I have always updated HPE servers with the SPP iso. Which is sometimes quite annoying because you have to download the 10 GB iso, mount it in the ILO and do the update etc... All this usually takes 1 hour in total, for just update 10 firmware.

Is there another way such as ssh commands that connect to a repository and update the server to the last firmware?

I do not have centralized server management because most of my customers are SMEs and generally only have one or two servers.

Thanks in advance for the information

Hi @ESI_Joh

The UPDATE_FIRMWARE or UPDATE_RIB_FIRMWARE command copies a specified file to iLO, starts the upgrade process, and reboots the board after the image has been successfully flashed.

Please note that the two commands are used to update different components:

  • UPDATE_RIB_FIRMWARE flashes only the iLO firmware.

  • UPDATE_FIRMWARE flashes other components, such as the CPLD, Power PIC, ROM, and more.

Here are the few videos, this might help in updating firmware without downloading SPP.
Please refer to this document, It might help you.

Greeshma
