Re: UPS information

Hello @GFC1,

Testing a UPS without cutting power to your servers takes some planning. Most modern UPS units have built‑in self‑test features that let you check battery health and performance without disconnecting anything. If your model supports it, you can also add a controlled external load to see how it handles under stress, but only within its rated capacity.

The key is to make sure your servers stay powered during the test, so rely on the UPS’s online mode and keep an eye on things like battery status, voltage, and temperature while it runs. It’s best to do this during a maintenance window, just in case.

If you’re not sure about the exact steps for your UPS, the safest option is to follow the manufacturer’s guide or reach out to their support team. That way you can test confidently without risking downtime.

Re: UPS information

@GFC1,

If you want to test your HPE R/T3000 G5 HV or T1500 G5 UPS without cutting power to your servers, the safest way is to use the UPS’s built‑in self‑test or load test features. These let you check battery health and performance through the management interface without disconnecting anything.

If you need a deeper test, you can connect an external load like a resistor bank, but make sure it’s within the UPS’s rated capacity and keep your servers running on the UPS in online mode. Always monitor battery status, voltage, and temperature while testing, and try to schedule it during a quiet period.

For exact steps, it’s best to check the manuals or reach out to HPE support so you know you’re following the right procedure for your specific model.
