Hello,
I have an UPS R5500XR with network module with a network port and a serial port.
Unfortunately I do not know the IP address of the network and try to connect through serial port to reconfigure the IP address.
I use Putty (9600 bauds, data bits 8, stop bit 1, Parity none, Flow control none) , connect to the serial port and reseat the card, I can see to boot text but I do not have any menu and cannot send any input.
Do I miss something?
Please can you help me with this problem.
Thank you,
Thorak.

Re: UPS R5500 RX serial connection
Hi,
Is this UPS a R5500 XR or RX?
Have you tried the User Guide to check the connections?
Thank You!

Re: UPS R5500 XR serial connection
Sorry my mistake, this is a R5500 XR. Yes I have read he user manual and also the UPS network module user manual.
I have followed the guidance (I think) and as you can see I have something on the terminal when plugging the network module card into the UPS, but I do not have any menu and cannot interact with the terminal.
The only point is that I do not have the exact cable, so I took another cable serial to serial and plug it to an old HP laptop that still has a serial port.
Best regards,
Thorak.

Re: UPS R5500 XR serial connection
Thank you for the links, I have read them already and tried to find the referenced adapter over internet (part number 304098-001).
Unfortunately the price of this adapter is completely crazy, the best price I was able to find is around 140$ with delivery fees.
Some market sell it for more then 220$ :(.
I have found one market that sell it for 24.50$ but they do not deliver in Europe and I live in Belgium.
Is it possible to buy it directly to HPE for a honnest price?
Thank you for your time and help,
Best regards,
Thorak.

Re: UPS R5500 XR serial connection
I bought a serial cable made for communication for industrial devices 23$ with delivery fees, it works!
The problem was the serial cable.
I have been able to access to UPS module via serial and I see it into HP Power Protector Administrator.
I have configured the network on the card and can ping it but I cannot access it over the network.
The card is a SNMP/SERIAL module and I am not sure that this model has HP Power Protector Administrator integrated, therefore not sure if I can use it directly over the network with port 4679(http) or 4680(https).
Is the network port of this module reserved only to send SNMP trap to a SNMP server or has it HP Power Protector integrated?
In any case my problem of serial access is fixed, but I am not at the end of the road..
Thank you for your support,
Best regards,
Thorak.
